Career Pathways
Start the path to your career at UA Cossatot!
The Career Pathways department at UA Cossatot exists to financially assist students, who are parents, in achieving their personal and professional goals while also helping them develop the skills they need to boost their resumes or job applications. Whether a student wants to pursue a health science career, a traditional trade school career, or is looking for assistance with college credits toward a certificate or degree program at UA Cossatot; they are encouraged to contact the Career Pathways department to determine Career Pathways eligibility.

If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, you may be eligible for Career Pathways assistance. Please contact the UA Cossatot's Career Pathways department for more information, to check your eligibility status, or for help with your application.
Are you the custodial or noncustodial parent of at least one child under the age of 21 ?
All potential Career Pathways students MUST be custodial or noncustodial parent, of at least one child under the age of 21.
Are you a participant in public assistance programs such as ARKids/Medicaid/Medicare, SNAP (Food Stamps), TEA, WIA, or unemployment assistance?
If you do not participate in any of the programs listed above, you may still qualify for Career Pathways based on the financial limits listed in the sections below.
Are you actively seeking, or willing to seek, employment?
Only those who are actively seeking, or willing to seek, employment are eligible for Career Pathways funding.
Are you currently in default on any government loans?
If so, you will not qualify for Career Pathways until default status is cleared.
Are you seeking a GED, are you a first-time college student, or are you a current/former college student?
- Do you currently have less than an Associate’s Degree AND less than 80 credit hours?
- Are you in good academic standing with UAC?
- Have you filled out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?
- College students will be required to go through the process to determine eligibility for Federal Student Aid.
Are you at or below 250% of the federal poverty level as listed below? This is based on your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) on the previous year’s tax return.
Only those who fall at or below 250% of the federal poverty level will qualify for Career Pathways funding.

- 2 - $49,300
- 3 - $62,150
- 4 - $75,000
- 5 - $87,850
- 6 - $100,700
- 7 - $113,550
- 8 - $126,400
For each additional person:
Add $5,140
For Career Pathways assistance with Continuing Education (CE) courses (CDL, CNA, Phlebotomy, etc.), you will need to bring all applicable documentation listed below before you can fill out an application with a Career Pathways representative:
- A signed copy of your most recent tax return (1040 form) - signed by both spouses if filed jointly
- Official letter form DHS verifying any assistance received (ARKids, Medicaid, food stamps, etc.)
- Proof of DWS benefits (Unemployment, WIA, TEA, etc.)
- Arkansas Driver’s License/ID card
- Social Security card
- Children’s Social Security cards, or birth certificate if newborn
- High school transcript, diploma or GED
For help with college credit courses towards a Certificate of Proficiency, Technical Certificate or Associate Degree, you will need to bring all applicable documentation listed below before you can fill out an application with a Career Pathways representative:
- A signed copy of your most recent tax return (1040 form) - signed by both spouses if filed jointly
- A copy of your FAFSA, SAR or Pell Grant award letter
- Official letter from DHS verifying any assistance received (ARKids, Medicaid, food stamps, etc.)
- Proof of DWS benefits (Unemployment, WIA, TEA, etc.)
- Arkansas Driver’s License/ID card
- Social Security card
- Children’s Social Security cards, or birth certificate if newborn
- High school transcript, diploma or GED
- Transcripts from all colleges you have attended
- Class schedule and unofficial college transcript from UA Cossatot if already registered or enrolled
*Career Pathways eligibility decision is valid for one (1) year from the date of application*
