UA Cossatot Lady Colts Celebrate Historic First Win in Soccer Program’s History
October 3, 2024 – UA Cossatot proudly celebrates a landmark victory for its Lady Colts soccer program, who secured their first official win last night against Arlington Baptist with a 2-0 triumph. This monumental victory marks a defining moment in the program's short but promising two-year history.
The Lady Colts set the pace early in the match with freshman Beatriz Munoz opening the scoring, assisted by teammate Derrick McCool. As the game progressed, the Lady Colts solidified their lead when Florida native Gissel Daravina netted the second and final goal, assisted by Brittnee Lara. The team displayed remarkable teamwork and determination, earning a victory that will be remembered as a historic milestone for the young program.
Following the Lady Colts’ historic win, UA Cossatot’s men’s team took to the field and completed the road sweep against Arlington Baptist’s men’s squad with a 3-1 victory. Kerry Najera, the team’s leading scorer, was a key player in the game, finding the back of the net twice. Spax Sibanda contributed a third goal, while assists came from Steven Aguirre, Sibanda, and Najera, highlighting the Colts' well-rounded offensive performance.
