LOCKESBURG, ARKANSAS – Weyerhaeuser donates $10,000 to the University of Arkansas Cossatot Foundation for the development of a pump transfer training system for the Lockesburg Industrial Maintenance Institute (LIMI).
“$7500.00 previously received from Weyerhaeuser helped purchase parts and supplies to launch construction of the trainer and the funding received today will be used to complete the project, enabling us to develop further skill sets required by our business and industry partners in preparing our students for jobs within the pathway of instrumentation” says Division Chair of Skilled and Technical Programs, Steve McJunkins.
“The completed pump transfer system trainer will provide students with a more realistic training opportunity where multiple process variables are taught in one unit rather than multiple training simulators for single processes.”
The UA Cossatot LIMI opened for industrial technology classes in August 2018. The institute provides training for local industries such as Weyerhaeuser, Tyson, Ashgrove, Domtar, and SWEPCO.
Chancellor Cole says, “Weyerhaeuser Company has been a long-time industry supporter of UA Cossatot. We're honored that they are helping with this groundbreaking program in Lockesburg.”
“This program helps hundreds of students that will be working towards high-wage, high- skill jobs in the industrial maintenance field, which is a huge piece of the puzzle when it comes to economic development for our area.”
