UA Cossatot offers a 50-hour Pharmacy Technician program that will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Open enrollment is taking place right now for this fall program set to begin on October 13, 2020, and end on December 8, 2020. The deadline to register for the Pharmacy Technician program is October 5, 2020.
The 9-week program will occur at UA Cossatot’s Nashville Campus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.
Course content in this program will include pharmacy medical terminology, pharmacy history, pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculation and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will review and study several topics and subjects such as dosage calculations, drug classifications, the top 200 drugs, and I.V. flow rates and more through classroom lectures and hands-on labs.
