UA Cossatot recently honored Mr. Robert Martinez of De Queen, Arkansas for 22 years of service as an essential member of the college's Board of Visitors. Mr. Martinez officially announced his retirement from the Board at their quarterly meeting on Monday, January 10, at the Historic UA Cossatot Bank of Lockesburg Gymnasium.
Since 2000, Mr. Martinez helped UA Cossatot move from a technical college to a regionally established member of the University of Arkansas System. In addition, Mr. Martinez assisted UA Cossatot’s administration in making the best decisions for its students and community stakeholders.
“Robert has been with us for 22 years, and each and every year, he was there providing leadership and advice that carried us from a technical college to a member of the University of Arkansas System. He was extremely influential and helpful for our college to reach the status of an Hispanic Serving Institution. He has been a friend to our college and a leader in our community, especially for issues affecting our vibrant Hispanic populations,” said UA Cossatot Chancellor, Dr. Steve Cole.
UA Cossatot will now begin the search for Mr. Martinez’s Sevier County vacancy on the Board of Visitors.
