UA Cossatot announced that renovations at the UA Cossatot Lockesburg Campus will continue now that it has been approved to complete the renovations to the old Lockesburg Middle School.

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program (AHPP) has received and approved architectural drawings and specifications from Principal Architect, Ken Amburgy, AIA, with the firm SCM Architects.

The scope of renovations includes the demolition of various closets/interior features and finishes in the existing Classrooms 111/112 as well as Museum 102 and the Meeting Room. New finishes will be installed in these same rooms as well as a new break room into the Meeting Room. Additionally, the bathrooms are being renovated and there is some affiliated exterior work as well as low-pressure washing of the masonry.

Renovations during this first phase are scheduled to start immediately and should be completed by March 31, 2022.

This renovation is all part of the Blue Darter Heritage campaign where the college has plans to have the entire campus listed as a historic district with the middle school, high school, and gymnasium being contributing buildings.

The Blue Darter Heritage campaign is also designed to raise funds for the campus to aid in academic programming, overall campus improvement, and scholarships for UA Cossatot students residing in the 71846 zip code.
