The University of Arkansas Cossatot is excited to announce a new course schedule for its spring 2021 continuing education classes. Classes range from personal enrichment to professional development and are available on-campus and online. The courses offered begin and end at different times, so registration is on-going throughout the semester. The complete list of classes can be viewed at www.cccua.edu/conted.
Continuing education courses can consist of one-day classes, online classes, or classes where students meet a few nights a week. Different options are available for all types of students. Self-paced courses are also an excellent option for UA Cossatot students who want to learn a new skill or receive training with a busy schedule.
Potential students interested in working in the medical field can take classes through the colleges continuing education department and become a phlebotomy technician, nursing assistant, or pharmacy technician in as little as two months. A medical billing and coding program is available this spring, and so is a brand new electronic health record management program.
Individuals interested in small business development have several courses to choose from, including a speed Spanish course. Useful Microsoft Certification classes will be available for students who would like to learn more about Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. A Microsoft certification will be awarded to students who complete the courses for students to show employers.
UA Cossatot Vice-Chancellor of Academics, Dr. Ashley Aylett, will be giving a lecturer series this spring and summer for people interested in participating in workshops about communicating for leadership success, making high-quality decisions, and coaching for the workplace. These workshops can be completed in one afternoon and are available in an interactive live stream session.
UA Cossatot is dedicated to improving workforce development in Southwest Arkansas and is thrilled to announce a new program called Future Fit. This program begins on March 1 and will take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Students who get accepted into Future Fit will receive hands-on and online instruction developed with Arkansas manufacturers' input to help them enter and move up in skilled and technical careers. Future Fit will also lead to job placement opportunities.
Personal enrichment classes such as Practical Greenhouse Skills, Container Gardening, Exploring Your Cricut, and a Concealed Handgun course are also available this spring.
