UA Cossatot traveled to Brenham, TX, and took part in the Blue Bell Ice Cream Classic Friday and Saturday on November 12 and 13.
UAC opened the Classic with a gutsy performance but fell short, falling to the NJCAA Division I host team Blinn College Buccaneers 76-70 Friday night. The Colts, who were playing without Terry Anderson, last week's Division II national player of the week, led 35-32 at the half. Kamren Woods led the Colts with 16. Decorian Phillips had 13, Dalon Dean 11, and Shane Bell 10.
Saturday afternoon, the Colts rolled past the Victoria College Pirates 90-67, as the Colts took an early lead and raced to a 58-20 halftime score. UAC hit 15 three-pointers on the day, led by Dalon Dean, who set an all-time Colts single-game record with eight threes and 28 total points. Terry Anderson had 18, while Decorian Phillips, Kamren Woods, and Shane Bell each had 10.
Athletic Director and Head Coach Robert Byrd said, “Overall, this trip was a great experience for our guys. We went 1-1, and our guys from Houston had an opportunity to play in front of family and friends.”
The next time out for UAC will be Thursday night, November 18, when the Colts and Lady Colts host Southern University-Shreveport.
